The Desert Caballeros Western Museum, now renamed the Sigler Western Museum following a historic 20 million dollar gift, will soon begin construction on a major new art museum and pavilion designed by Studio Ma. Supported by the Sigler family’s generosity and an additional 9.25 million dollars in community contributions, this project represents one of the most significant cultural investments in the history of Arizona.

The new 27,100-square-foot, 30 million dollar expansion will include state-of-the-art galleries, an indoor pavilion, and a welcoming courtyard that links the new buildings with the existing museum and the Cultural Crossroads Learning Center. Designed as a flexible and future-ready complex, the expansion will support signature exhibitions such as Cowgirl Up as well as new event, education, and community programs.

Studio Ma’s design continues the firm’s legacy of shaping cultural architecture across Arizona, with a composition inspired by regional landscapes, materials, and artistic traditions. The project incorporates advanced audiovisual capabilities, climate-conscious building systems, and an outdoor sculpture garden that expands the museum’s civic presence along Wickenburg Way.

When the new museum and pavilion open, the existing Frontier Street building will focus on Western history collections, while the new facilities will elevate contemporary art, cultural expression, and community engagement. Groundbreaking will take place on January 27, 2026 marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for this long-standing institution.
